Why dRdrums UK....
We always use new innovative ways in drum kit design and to make our drums to a high quality tailored professional spec and finish.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE WOOD.
The core woods we use are:
Different to birch, cherry is tonally in the same ball park as its distant cousin, however, whilst it continues to have the high end snap as birch provides, it darker colour gives it a richer undertone whilst still projecting a louder crack.
Historically one of the best of the 3 core woods, mahogany offers an amazing lower rich tone. Used best in all formats of playing, mahogany is the most recorded core wood in the drumming world. Mahogany boasts all the qualities that maple offers but comes with a classic low, dark, rich sound.
Our only 100% range of veneer from start to finish, kevasingo (Bubinga). Please see our 'Juppinga' page.
Our snare shells comprise of a 13 ply shell (7.8mm) with re rings as standard.
Our tom and floor tom drums range between 7-13 ply (with/out re rings).
Bass drums are 13 ply (with/out) re rings.
We don't use wraps!!! Wraps hide a multitude of sins. Drum companies around the world use cheap wraps on their drums and then put an extortionate price tag on them!!!
All our finishes are engineered to create the perfect finish.
Our finishes include;
High gloss lacquer
Hand crafted excellence from our workshop in MANCHESTER.
